Live On Air! Audio Drama and Voice Acting
Ages: 10-15 years
Perform live on a radio broadcast (also streamed online)! Our short sessions provide an easy way to try out this program.
Meet new performers or join a session with your friends!
This class will focus on voice acting alongside the ins and outs of performing in an audio drama. Not only will participants discover how to stretch their acting skills when no one can see them, they'll also experience the excitement of performing live on air!
Every session will be unique, where actors can:
choose scripts to use
write their own material
learn voice acting skills: vocal expression and voice techniques
experiment with foley/sound effects
help source music or audio files
discover how radio and audio programs work
build confidence
Many skills learned will be transferrable for those wanting to make their own podcasts, audio content, and radio plays. We will not be teaching video editing, streaming, etc.
The 20-30 minute performance will be broadcast on CKMS 102.7 FM Radio Waterloo, a local radio station with fantastic local programming, during the last class of each session. Listeners can tune in on a radio or listen to the streaming broadcast online.
Attendance is an important part of the process. Actors work as an ensemble and rely on one another to be there. If an actor cannot attend the broadcast, they should not register for the program.
No experience required - beginners welcome!
Past broadcasts and audio performances can be found on our Live On Air! page.
