actOUT!’s
2026 Summer Theatre Camp
is coming!

Join us on stage at KW Little Theatre for the most theatrical summer camp in the Waterloo Region

We are returning this summer with exciting camps for ages 8-14! Theatre Camp is back with our hilarious one-act plays and Improv Academy. We are also running our Drama Camp for ages 5-10.

We aim to provide children with multiple opportunities to learn new concepts, develop new friendships, and encourage personal growth in the area of theatrical arts. Come perform with us!

Theatre Camp: ages 8-14

actOUT! Summer Camp at KWLT rehearsal time!

Locations:

Kitchener Waterloo Little Theatre
(9 Princess Street East, Waterloo, ON N2J 2W9)

Times:

  • 9am to 4pm

  • Drop off 8:50-9:10am

  • Pick up 3:50-4:10pm

  • Friday’s performance will start at 4pm. Pick up (if not attending the performance) will be 4:45-5pm.

Cost:

Bring a show to life on stage! Campers will be cast in roles, learn lines, develop theatre skills, and more in one of our exciting plays below. Campers will also participate in a variety of energetic drama games and activities. Every week is different. Casting is very flexible - we cast actors in roles they are comfortable with and ensure that most, if not all, roles are cast without regard to gender, race, ethnicity, body type, physical ability, and so on. Beginners are welcome!

Campers will have regular breaks and lunch. The KWLT camp option does not have any significant outdoor component.

Plays will be performed on Friday afternoons at 4pm and camp will run later as a result. Performances are not ticketed and are open to family and friends to attend. Videorecording of performances is not permitted due to rights issues and our commitment to promoting the enjoyment of live theatre.

Attendance Matters - please do not register your child for a One-Act Play Performance week if they cannot attend all days, especially Friday.

Our campers will be our cast for the week and will rely on each other to learn their roles and perform! Please do not register your child in a one-act performance camp if they cannot attend all days (though we realize events like illness can be unavoidable). Children who are enrolled and unexpectedly cannot attend Friday will not be cast with lines in the play; they will have the chance to learn other theatre skills (working with costumes, props, etc) while participating in other camp activities. Contact us if you have questions at info@actoutkw.com.

July 13-17 Play: The Not So Mysterious Disappearance of Cinderella

July 20-24 Improv Academy

July 27-31 Play: Alice in Wonderland: The Queen of Hearts Point of View

The Wizard of Oz

Written by Jennifer Reif

Dorothy: Where do I find this wizard?

Nimmie: He lives in the Emerald City.

Dorothy: How do I get there?

Bini: Did you bring a broomstick?

Dorothy: No. I told you, I’m not a witch.

Mayor: Then you’ll have to walk.

Follow Dorothy and her friends along the yellow brick road as they encounter munchkins and witches and finally meet the Wizard. This 30-minute version of The Wizard of Oz has all the charm and characters from the classic story by L. Frank Baum.

The Not So Mysterious Disappearance of Cinderella

Written by Chuck Novatka

911 OPERATOR: You’re telling me that she is a half hour late from returning from a Ball at the Prince’s castle and you already want to fill out a missing person’s report? Give me a break lady.

FAIRY GODMOTHER: No, you don’t understand. We had a deal. She was to return back home before the clock struck 12, or else her gown would turn to rags and her carriage would change back into a pumpkin pulled by mice.

911 OPERATOR: Seriously lady? Maybe you need to get more sleep.

This hilarious new version of Cinderella offers up a much more contemporary twist to the old tale. This time, Cinderella goes missing and everyone in the kingdom is a suspect. Packed with humour and fresh takes on classic characters, this play is sure to entertain.

Improv Academy

At Improv Academy, actors will have a blast experimenting on stage, learning and practicing core Improv skills. Be creative! Roll with unexpected scene choices! Master the Yes, and… reaction! Actors will develop their ability to work together on stage in exciting ways.

By the end of the week, our group of actors will be prepared for anything as they perform a one-time, totally spontaneous, audience-interactive Improv show. This is a program focused on high-energy activities, however, there will be minimal outdoor time.

Alice in Wonderland: The Queen of Hearts’ Point of View

Written by Sara Feinberg

4 of Hearts: Are you sure she wants to steal your throne?

Queen: Don’t be stupid; of course, she wants to steal my throne! Why else would she be here?

5 of Hearts: Maybe it was just an accident.

Queen: Oh yeah? Well, maybe I’ll just accidentally…chop off your heads!

All Cards: We agree with you!

Queen: I thought you’d see it my way.

Alice gets all the credit in Wonderland, but what about the characters who actually live there? And what about the Queen’s point of view? She has a tough job, made worse by the fact that a spoiled little girl just arrived and started tearing everything up! Now, the Queen of Hearts, along with her trusty Jokers and other royal servants, must find her and stop the madness.

This play is presented by arrangement with Drama Notebook
