Past Performance Options
Early this coming summer we will tease our audiences with laughter and complaints in Complaint Department and Lemonade by Kamron Klitgaard. People will complain about anything — not almost anything, but absolutely anything! In this rapid succession of hysterical grievances, the complaint department takes on everything from Oreo icing to kleptomania and from songs stuck in the head to the price of cheese, and on, and on, and on. Could there be a glimmer of hope for anyone in charge of a complaint department?
Ah, middle school. The best worst years of your life! The friends, the memories, the life lessons, and of course the...inevitably haunting embarrassments that will leave emotional scars for years to come! Join a group of real life middle school students as they uncover the wonders perils of their first dance, the marvels horrors of field trips, the joy humiliation of gym class, and many more of the numerous fond traumatizing aspects of life as a middle school student.
Returning to the Kitchener Waterloo Little Theatre, All I Really Need To Know I Learned From Being In A Bad Play and the sequel All I Need Really To Know I Learned From Being In A Bad Murder Mystery two plays by Werner Trieschmann that have delighted both campers and our audiences alike return for another summertime romp!
Based on several disastrous theatrical experiences, Bad Play peels back a tattered curtain to examine the process of putting on a show that is less than good. A stuffy narrator (what bad play is complete without a stuffy narrator?) guides the audience through the whole sorry process. We go from the audition—where the director is more worried about roast beef than paying attention to the warm-up exercise, and the neurotic cast pretends to be bacon—to rehearsals—where a passive-aggressive stage manager gives everyone grief. There's also a special meeting of the Small Part Support Group and a production of Romeo and Juliet set in a Starbucks
At Improv Academy, actors will have a blast experimenting on stage, learning and practicing core Improv skills. Be creative! Roll with unexpected scene choices! Master the Yes, and… reaction! Actors will develop their ability to work together on stage in exciting ways.
By the end of the week, our group of actors will be prepared for anything as they perform a one-time, totally spontaneous, audience-interactive Improv show. This is a program focused on high-energy activities, however, there will be minimal outdoor time.
Please choose another week if your child cannot attend any of the camp days.

Our staff will guide our young actors in creating a short original performance that will be presented on Friday afternoon. This is an excellent opportunity to learn about drama, creative play, and movement in a safe and welcoming environment.
Financial Assistance Available: actOUT! KW believes that drama has a significantly positive impact on the personal, physical, and emotional development of children and youth. We realize how difficult it can be for some families to afford our programs and do our best not to turn anyone away. Learn more on our Financial Assistance page.
