actOUT! offers a great opportunity for children to:
explore their curiosity about the theatrical arts
build a healthy self-esteem
develop many life-long skills
We work hard to provide a safe, supportive, and positive environment.
actOUT! is the place to go in the Waterloo Region for non-competitive theatre experiences for children in the theatre arts. Every actOUT! program is designed with fun in mind. We build confidence in young people through dramatic play, theatrical activities, and a supportive, inclusive environment. actOUT! welcomes children and youth from diverse backgrounds.
Participants can join as late as the second class. Class sizes are a maximum of 16.
Acting for Youth
Ages: 10-14 years
This class will focus on character acting, movement, script work, and developing focus on stage. Participants will be expected to read and discuss scripts/scenes, learning lines independently between classes.
Our participants will learn a short monologue (or scene) to perform for family and friends at the end of the session.
No experience required. This is an older age group, however, and we recommend that 10-11 year-olds with no previous drama experience try our Theatre Skills class first.
Performance: The end-of-session performance will happen during the last class. Actors will be dropped off first to prepare and the show will begin approx. 20 minutes later. Family and friends are welcome. Instructors will communicate any additional details if needed.
