New to actOUT!
Early this coming summer we will tease our audiences with laughter and complaints in Complaint Department and Lemonade by Kamron Klitgaard. People will complain about anything — not almost anything, but absolutely anything! In this rapid succession of hysterical grievances, the complaint department takes on everything from Oreo icing to kleptomania and from songs stuck in the head to the price of cheese, and on, and on, and on. Could there be a glimmer of hope for anyone in charge of a complaint department?
Ah, middle school. The best worst years of your life! The friends, the memories, the life lessons, and of course the...inevitably haunting embarrassments that will leave emotional scars for years to come! Join a group of real life middle school students as they uncover the wonders perils of their first dance, the marvels horrors of field trips, the joy humiliation of gym class, and many more of the numerous fond traumatizing aspects of life as a middle school student.
Back by Popular Demand
Returning to the Kitchener Waterloo Little Theatre, All I Really Need To Know I Learned From Being In A Bad Play and the sequel All I Need Really To Know I Learned From Being In A Bad Murder Mystery two plays by Werner Trieschmann that have delighted both campers and our audiences alike return for another summertime romp!
Based on several disastrous theatrical experiences, Bad Play peels back a tattered curtain to examine the process of putting on a show that is less than good. A stuffy narrator (what bad play is complete without a stuffy narrator?) guides the audience through the whole sorry process. We go from the audition—where the director is more worried about roast beef than paying attention to the warm-up exercise, and the neurotic cast pretends to be bacon—to rehearsals—where a passive-aggressive stage manager gives everyone grief. There's also a special meeting of the Small Part Support Group and a production of Romeo and Juliet set in a Starbucks
Please choose another week if your child cannot attend any of the camp days.
Financial Assistance Available: ActOUT! acknowledges the role of theatre/drama in the personal, physical, and emotional development of children and youth. It is the philosophy of actOUT! that no child/youth should be turned away due to cost or affordability.

Using dramatic play, our camp staff will keep kids active, and encourage creative play. They will guide our young actors to create a short original performance, based on their explorations of the week, that will be presented on Friday afternoon. This is an excellent first-steps camp for those looking to learn about drama, creative play, and movement.

Safety First
At actOUT! we believe in fun and games, but never without a thought to safety. Our program is designed with the safety and security of the children in our care in mind.
All games and activities are age appropriate and designed with the assurance of safe practices. Nobody wants drama with their drama.
All of actOUT!'s program staff, instructors, leaders, and volunteers must go through rigorous checks and training including a Police Vulnerable Sector Safety Check.
ActOUT's instructors and staff are all regularly certified in first aid.
Things for campers to bring daily:
An enthusiastic self and creative mind
Nut-free lunch/snacks
Water bottles
Comfortable clothes that allow freedom of movement
Clean indoor footwear/dance shoes (no outdoor, flip-flops, boots, or slip-on shoes please) as we will be spending time in the theatre space. Please label all belongings to avoid mix-ups.
A sun hat and sunscreen (in case we take a break from the theatre to visit a local park or school yard).
Please leave gum, toys, electronic equipment, trading cards, and other valuable items at home. actOUT! is not responsible for lost, broken, or stolen items.
Program Rules
Program rules will be clearly outlined to the participants and they also get an opportunity to share what will help them have a great week with us but these rules always apply:
Touch only what belongs to you.
Do not stray from the group.
Keep hands and feet to yourself.
Speak nicely to others. Respect leaders, volunteers, and other campers.
Listen to your leaders.
Always ask to go to the washroom.
ActOUT! has consistent consequences and a Behaviour Checklist Form that will be filled in for any camper that does not contribute to the well-being of the group. This form is used when needed to keep parents/guardians informed of instances when your child has received a consequence for inappropriate behaviour. Your support is appreciated by having a follow-up conversation with your child. Confidentiality is vitally important to actOUT! and instructors and leaders are instructed to keep forms in a secure location and not to share information with anyone outside the program setting.
As a summer camp and not a daycare facility, we expect all of our campers to be toilet trained and not require assistance in this area. We do not have the staff to assist with bathroom needs.
