March 2nd, 2022 $43,700 OTF Grant Gives actOUT! youth virtual opportunities

Waterloo – In 2021, actOUT! Kitchener-Waterloo Children’s Drama Workshop received a $43,700 Community Building Fund grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation to support the development of our virtual programs. This project began in Fall 2021, giving children and youth in the community improved access to arts programs in a safe manner through Winter 2022.

Our programs, previously live performances, have been adapted to allow our participants to create new online productions using at home filming techniques with new equipment. From a comedic adaption of Frankenstein to musical short films, our kids have been able to connect and continue to grow creatively.

"We are grateful and appreciative for this grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation,” said Breanna MacLeod, Chair of actOUT. “This support has allowed us to greatly improve our virtual programming so that we can continue to provide a safe way for children and youth to experience theatre arts.”

The actOUT! Board recognized this valued support at their Annual General Meeting on Sunday, February 27th, 2022.
